The "Moulding Your Child" Expertise

As the world has changed to a more digitalized and globalized community, the parenting environment has also changed significantly. Modern parents may find behavior management more complex and therefore more challenging. Traditional methods of advising, punishing and coaxing may no more be effective as before. A systematic and scientifically validated approach to behavior management therefore becomes more yuiop[mandatory today than ever before.

Dr Kaliaden’s book, “Moulding Your Child” was published in 1995 in response to this need felt by the Gulf expatriate community. Educating parents on the science and “know-how” of shaping behavior was taken up as a major step in preventing and remedying behavioral disorders in our communities. Our Child Behavior Management services are led by the insights of Dr. George Kaliaden, whose decades of practice in Dubai and his definitive work, Moulding Your Child, provide a roadmap for navigating parenting challenges.

We don’t just “fix” behaviors; we help parents understand the psycho- behavioral dynamics behind shaping of good behavior and extinguishing unwanted behavior.

Behavioral Disorders: Dr. Kaliaden emphasizes that behavior is learned and, therefore, can be unlearned through consistent and structured schedules of reinforcement. We help parents with behavioral analysis and solution-focused BM techniques whereby they are empowered to effectively address behavioral problems of everyday life.

We provide comprehensive assessments and treatment for:
ADHD and Academic Focus Issues
Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)
Fears, Phobias, and Nightmares
Extreme Shyness and Stranger Anxiety
Obsessive over-perfectionism
School refusal
Anger issues, frustration
Tantrum behavior……

FAQ

1. Will my child be labelled if we visit a psychologist?
Our goal is understanding, not just labelling. While a diagnosis like ADHD can be helpful for securing school support, our focus remains on the individual child’s strengths. We view “disorders” as areas where a child needs specific skill-building and environmental adjustments.

2. How involved do I need to be in the therapy process?
Extensively. Dr. Kaliaden’s work emphasizes that the parent is the primary “moulder.” While we work directly with the child to build coping skills, we also provide Parent Management Training (PMT). We equip you with the specific scripts and techniques to use at home so that progress continues long after the session ends.

3. My child complains of physical pain but the paediatrician found nothing. Is it “all in their head”?
The pain is very real to the child, but the cause is psychological. This is often a sign of Somatization. When a child lacks the emotional vocabulary to say “I am overwhelmed by my math teacher,” their body says “my head hurts” instead. We help the child connect these dots and find healthier ways to express stress.
